The IBM FlashSystem Hands-on Workshop Day 1 begins with a brief update of the IBM Spectrum Virtualize family of products, with emphasis on IBM FlashSystem 9200s, array drives that compress without performance penalties, and NVMe capabilities. Thin Provisioning, Compression, Deduplication, support for SCSI UNMAP are also covered, as are Virtualize options on IBM Cloud and AWS. Migration of pre-existing data, and advanced functions such as EZ Tier, Copy Services, Hyperswap, Distributed RAID, and the latest new functions of version 8.3 of the product. The hands-on labs include use of the new Graphical User Interface, creating and manipulating thin or compressed virtual volumes, and migrating data between storage subsystems without stopping I/O.
The IBM Storage Insights Hands-on Workshop Day 2 begins with a discussion on overall Storage Management, IBM Storage Insights, IBM Storage Insights Pro, IBM Storage Insights for Spectrum Control, and IBM Spectrum Control. The day is interlaced with presentations, demos, and hands on labs that show how, with a single console, participants can monitor and manage their storage, as well as benefit from analytics and automation. The Day 2 hands on lab content includes, working with the web user interface, capacity monitoring, performance management, storage reclamation and reporting.
